Films and Slide Presentations that present a time-capsule of life in and around the Wealden Line will be featured here.
The first presentation is a slide show of Uckfield's Temporary Station that was built on the original Down Line in order that East Sussex County Council could permanently close the level crossing to allow unhindered road use. It was done on a shoestring, so much so that only a portacabin was provided as a ticket office. This lasted until it was condemmed as a result of rat infestation. The replacement portacabin was installed in a different location fronting the main road which was very noisy, so much so that it was difficult at times to hear what the booking clerk was saying to you.
Finally, money was found to provide a brand new modular building of a design that could be moved to a new location when the station moves back to its original site as part of extending the line from Uckfield to Brighton as part of the BML2 Project.
